  1. Describe the problem in the customer's words
  2. Read the conversation before offering anything
  3. Send something they can respond to

The easiest first customers to find are the people already talking about the problem your product solves. Their posts can tell you more than a job title or company size ever could.

ReacherX helps you find those conversations on X/Twitter and LinkedIn. Here's a small search you can start with.

Describe the problem in the customer's words

Suppose your app helps freelance designers collect feedback from clients. “Find customers for my SaaS” doesn't tell ReacherX much.

Try something like:

Find freelance designers who have talked about clients sending feedback through email, chat, and shared documents. I'm building an app that puts that feedback in one place.

You can add things that matter, such as a country or the size of the business. Leave out restrictions that don't affect whether you can help.

Read the conversation before offering anything

Open a promising result. What exactly was the person struggling with? Have they already found an answer? Did someone suggest an approach they've tried before?

A complaint about feedback doesn't automatically mean they want another app. Maybe they need a better process, or their client refuses to use anything new.

That's useful to learn before you spend time writing a pitch.

Read a designer's post about client feedback before offering your app. Interactive demo with fictional data. Interact to pause; playback resumes after four seconds of inactivity, except while editing. Changes stay in the demo.

Send something they can respond to

For the designer example, an opening could be:

You mentioned getting feedback in three different places. Does the main problem happen when you're collecting it, or when you're trying to work out which changes the client has approved?

Ask because you want to understand the answer. If your app helps, explain how. A short demo can make that easier.

You can prepare plans for a few people, then check each message before sending. Start small enough that you can follow the replies yourself.
