  3. Save what you want it to remember

You shouldn't need a sales or marketing background to use ReacherX. I'm a developer and designer building it to stay that simple, and this guide walks you through your first hour with the app.

You do need to explain what you want, though. ReacherX won't know what makes someone useful to you until you tell it. For this walkthrough, let's use hiring: you need an engineer for a contract project involving payments in a web app.

Go through setup with one goal in mind

Setup starts with a conversation. Explain the work and the experience the person needs; △ Agent uses that request to propose an audience and example candidates.

You could start with:

I need an engineer for a contract project. They should have experience building checkout or payment features for web apps. Help me find people whose work shows that experience. I want to ask whether they're available for a conversation about the project.

Be clear about requirements and preferences. If a particular technology is required, say so. Add your website if it helps explain the project. Read the proposed audience before continuing and correct anything △ Agent misunderstood.

Review the example candidates and choose Continue when they fit. What you'll need: a connected X/Twitter or LinkedIn account, and a paid plan. If you already have both, setup takes you straight to the workspace. The search you're setting up lives in a workspace. This guide explains workspaces and how to keep different kinds of searches separate.

Describe the role and review your first candidate. Interactive demo with fictional data. Interact to pause; playback resumes after four seconds of inactivity, except while editing. Changes stay in the demo.

Read the first results

Open someone's profile and look at why they matched. For this example, does the evidence show work on payments, or just a general engineering job title? It won't necessarily tell you whether they're available for a contract. That's something you may need to ask.

Tell △ Agent what missed the point. Ask it to update the audience and review the change. If the workspace needs attention, open its status and read the reason; an unfinished setup or disconnected account needs fixing before asking for more results.

For a person you'd like to contact, ask for a plan. Read the proposed message and change what doesn't fit. Keep approvals on while learning the app. That's the default; autonomous mode can send supported messages without another approval.

Save what you want it to remember

If you have an instruction for every introduction, ask △ Agent to remember it for this workspace. For example, you might always want to mention the contract length. Check that it confirms the instruction was saved.

On your next visit, read replies and work waiting for approval. Update anything that happened outside the app. Analytics is there when you want to look at the wider picture.

ReacherX is still beta. If a step is confusing, tell me in Discord what you were trying to do and where you got stuck. You don't need to know why it broke to give useful feedback.
