  3. If you need more than a few words

I'm a developer and designer, so a lot of my ideas for ReacherX come from the tools I use myself. Cursor has been a big influence. It has autocomplete for code, and I wanted something like that for writing to people.

You don't always want a whole message written for you. Sometimes you know what you're trying to say and just need help getting the next sentence out. That's what autocomplete is for in ReacherX.

Start writing

Open the composer and type the message as you normally would. For example, you might be replying to someone who asked whether your app would work for their team:

Yes, it works for a small team. The part I think you'd find useful is

ReacherX can suggest what comes next, using the text and the available context about the workspace and person. Press Tab to accept a suggestion if it helps, or Escape to dismiss it. You can also just carry on typing.

Accept a suggested reply, then edit it before sending. Interactive demo with fictional data. Interact to pause; playback resumes after four seconds of inactivity, except while editing. Changes stay in the demo.

You can change your mind

Accepting a suggestion doesn't make the words permanent. Edit them. Keep half the sentence if that's the useful part. Delete the rest.

I want this to feel like help with your writing. If the suggestion is too formal, say it the way you'd actually say it. If it gets something wrong, fix it before sending. In particular, don't leave a claim like “I've been using your app” in there unless it's true.

The person receiving the message is going to read it as something you said. Give it a quick read yourself first.

If you need more than a few words

Sometimes there won't be a suggestion. You might have finished the thought, or there may not be enough to add. You can keep writing without one.

And sometimes the problem isn't the sentence. Maybe you've found someone interesting but don't know how to approach them yet. That's a better reason to ask △ Agent for a plan. You can talk through the approach before writing.

I know not everyone wants AI anywhere near their writing; I've written about that concern. Autocomplete is meant to help you say what you mean while leaving you in control of what you send.
